 THE WINTER and northern leagues are over till next season Get some
practice ready for next year’s competitions. On Thursday the play-off
for the winter league cup took place at Quesada Bowls Club. The north
won on four of the seven rinks but the win is on shots so the north
lost by nine shots: better luck next time. Jean Cooper, President of the CBBA, was on hand to present the trophy.
A number of spectators enjoyed a good game as well as taking advantage
of the weather.

San Luis bowling three day event |

 LAST WEEKEND saw a three day event held at San Luis Bowling club within
the Casa Ventura complex, Torrevieja, sponsored by local business woman
Karen Dowsing, owner of New2You second hand and new furniture shops in
Torrevieja, Mar Azul and Dolores. Karen asked if I would attend the prize giving ceremony on Monday 18th
January. John Featherstone, the Secretary, said this was an event that
included various local clubs from the area, including Greenlands; La
Forida; San Miguel etc.

 After nearly two weeks of great bowling (and some torrential rain)
the 12th Iberian Open has come to an end. As always, this has been a
great event, well supported by all the clubs north of Alicante. The
Ladies Singles event, sponsored by Matrix 35 Finance, was won by Yvonne
Browne, with Mary Cockell the runner-up. The Mens Singles, again
sponsored by Matrix 35 Finance, was won by Tony McKenna.

 El Cid’s open triples competition (the E1000), sponsored by El Cid Leisure, is two thirds the way through and has been an exciting and close competition. The latest results can be found on our club website (www.elcidbowlsclub.com) the final day of play is Monday 13th July, with the last matches followed by the final knock out rounds.
