Padraig Harrington
A s a result of negotiations between Round Town News and HiTec Sports, we have been given the opportunity of auctioning a pair of ‘Padraig Harrington’ HiTec CDT Super Power golf shoes. Monies raised from the auction will go toward the Round Town News sponsored ‘Help for Heroes’ Campaign and the lucky winner will be awarded a voucher issued by HiTec which can be used to redeem the shoes from HiTec direct, in the correct size and gender fitting. Barney Gollings, the HiTec Magnum global Manager said, “We are only too pleased to be of assistance in this worthwhile effort. We therefore offer our top of the range product as used by our number one sponsored golfer.
Padraig Harrington, Irish professional golfer and Hi-Tec sponsored player, certainly proved that the power does come from your feet by becoming the first European in 102 years to win the British Open, back-to-back. Harrington, powered by his Hi-Tec CDT Super Power shoes, recently finished four shots clear of Ian Poulter after a stirring finish that saw him play his final six holes in four-under-par. The $1,493,000.00 winner’s cheque also guarantees Harrington’s place in Europe’s Ryder Cup for the match against the States in September, catapulting him from 14th to a career-high third in the world rankings. Harrington said, “It’s no coincidence that I was wearing the world’s best golf shoes in winning back-to-back Open Championships. In some of the most testing conditions ever, Hi-Tec’s CDT technology gave me amazing balance and stability.”
The 2008 PGA Championship was the 90th PGA Championship which finished on August the 10th 2008 at the South Course of Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The 2008 event was won by Pádraig Harrington, his second consecutive major championship and third overall major title. His three under par 277 was two strokes better than runners-up Ben Curtis and Sergio García. Harrington earned $1.35 million for the victory, and became the first European-born winner of the PGA Championship in 78 years. He is the first winner of the PGA Championship from Ireland, and the first European to win the Open Championship and the PGA Championship in the same year.
