Onwards and Upwards for Torry
Lofty demonstrates where his loyalties lie
Onwards and Upwards for Torry

It has been a blinding season so far for FC Torrevieja, who despite their immaturity as a team have beaten all odds and hung firm near the top of the league table. They are now hoping to reach new heights with the signing of their latest player.

Since his return to the club in June, Trainer/ Manager of FC Torrevieja, José Agustin Soto has had a huge impact on its appearance and in turn its performance, generating a team with a diversity of skills and strengths. José encouraged the return of many of the last season’s most popular and respected payers, including the current Captain, Corcoles, Ramiro, Angel Ivan, De Los Rios, Arrazola and Matias, who might otherwise have explored opportunities elsewhere.

And with the blessing of the President, Eduardo Cagigao and Directorate of FC Torrevieja, he has negotiated the signing of some fourteen highly skilled newcomers including Bailén, Gómez, Heredia, Cenemor and Green.  Currently standing in fourth position in the Spanish Tercera B division the all-new line up has already consolidated as a team and proved to their opponents that they mean business. Although not every match has ended in their favour, the lads have discovered something new from each match played, which they are evidently learning to apply to their game under the careful guidance of their Manager.

LOFTY
José Soto, General Secretary of FC Torrevieja, Alex Dunn and various other Club Delegates assembled within the trophy room of the Vicente Garcia Stadium in order to welcome the club’s two latest recruits. David Dominguez Orta has been promoted to the position of Commercial Director. He will work closely alongside of José and the Torry Army, overseeing all of the club’s commercial operations including sponsorship, ticket sales, marketing, sourcing new players, arranging conferences and events. It is a very involved position, but one that he is looking forward to taking up.
José was also pleased to announce the arrival of another new player, 26-year old Lotfi El Bousidi, who will take up a position as forward. Hailing from Germany, the new player stands at 188 cm tall, and so has become better known by his colleagues as ‘Lofty.’ He was scouted by David Dominguez several months ago whilst playing for a team alongside of a friend of his, and he was immediately keen to make him a part of the Torrevieja line-up.
Lofty spent two weeks training with the team during August; an experience that gave him a great insight into the approach and attitude of the club and at which he was greatly impressed. José was equally encouraged by the speed, technical skills and agility of the player, and also of his vast experience in the football field. He won a scholarship to the German football club, ‘FSV Mainz 05,’ at the age of 16, where he progressed through the youth academy to take up a midfield position in the squad. He spent time with the club whilst it was placed in the second and third divisions under the Management of former Manchester City hero, Colin Bell.
Lofty has since spent time playing for a number of German teams, as well as a brief period with a Swiss club. Some of the proudest moments of his career to date were experienced when he was selected to play for the Moroccan National under 21’s and under 23’s squads, in the homeland of his parents.

WELCOME
Lofty is currently staying with Albert and Hazel Lockear of the Torry Army and has been invited to dine for free of charge at the ‘Casa de Jamon’ by the owner, Jean- Pierre, who is delighted to have the footballer as a regular patron of his Restaurant. He said that he has been made extremely welcome by all involved with the club and felt quite at home in Torrevieja from the outset.
