Dog lover Mick Scarles bravely underwent a hair-raising experience in aid of the Javea-based animal charity APASA – collecting 1,000 euros in sponsorship.

Mick lost his flowing locks at Javea Computer Club, where the ‘scalping’ was filmed and photographed as fellow club members cheered. The club also made a 400 euro donation to help the dogs rescued by the charity and housed at the municipal pound. “Some of the club members chopped off some pieces of hair for extra money,” said Mick. “And I had a go myself. The final cut was carried out by Darren of the H2O Salon in Javea Port.

“A fun time was had by all and it makes a very nice Christmas present for the dogs.” Mick, who lives in Javea, added: “I really like my hair long but it’s for a very good cause and the club made the extra donation to APASA, which is the chosen charity for this year.”
