It is reported that the images and promotional materials used by First Choice Glazed Curtains belong to another leading Glass Curtains company
Curtains for Dodgy Glazing Company
Since the article in last week’s issue highlighting a British couple’s struggle with an allegedly corrupt Glass Curtains company, the Round Town News has been alarmed and deeply saddened by the news of numerous others who have fallen into a similar trap, hearing damning reports of the activities of the Managing Director of ‘First Choice Glazed Curtains’, Mike Sullivan, who reportedly conned clients out of thousands of euros through the sale of a product of questionable structural reliability.
Drawn in by his confident sales patter, clients have laid down money left, right and centre and are now awaiting delivery of a product they may never receive.
The majority placed their order with First Choice Glazed Curtains because it offered a double glazed option to prevent their home from becoming draughty during the winter. However, the effectiveness of the system is questionable, and whilst it has undergone partial testing in Spain, it has yet to gain approval within UK markets. Double glazing requires two sheets of glass with an air space in the middle which are then sealed all the way round. Therefore, it would not be possible to create a genuine glass curtain without a visible frame.
GLASS CURTAINS™
Neil Ingram, Manager Director of the pioneer companies in the manufacture of Glass Curtains, Clear Glass Curtains™ SL in Mijas Costa and Glass Curtains Costa Blanca SL, in Catral, said that he endeavoured for many years to produce such a design, but has yet to develop one with which he is truly satisfied and happy to associate with the brand.
Mike Sullivan was previously employed as a Sales Director for the company and following dismissal, took Neil’s ideas with him, immediately marketing a dubious prototype as his own and declaring it would provide clients with the very latest in Glass Curtains technology.
A promotional video on his company website that belongs to Clear Glass Curtains™ SL does not feature any evidence of his work. He also used the Glass Curtains™ logo for his first 14 months in business to increase the marketing potential of his product, and is in infringement of copyright over both incidents. Neil would like to take this opportunity to make it clear that Glass Curtains™ is not associated with Mike Sullivan or First Choice Glazed Curtains.
DEPOSITS
The Kennedy family placed their order with First Choice Glazed Curtains in June 2008, contracted for a set of customised ‘double glazed’ glass curtains, paying a deposit of 3,910 euros, 50 per cent of the overall cost, including IVA; the rest to be paid on completion. A second couple in Zenia Mar VI, Orihuela Costa, also placed an order in June, paying a deposit of 3,500 euros against similar false promises from Mr. Sullivan in relation to installation dates and lame excuses when he did not come up with the goods.
Eventually, an installation team turned up in December with only random sections of their order and did not make much progress. Sullivan claimed the delays were all due to the inefficiency of the manufacturer, One Stop Aluminium SL, based in Almoradi, and where First Choice Glazed Curtains operates a small workshop. RTN attempted to speak to the owner of the company who was not available to comment.
Meanwhile, the two fitters disclosed that they too were owed money by the glazing company.
The couple claim to have matched the initial total paid, bringing their overall payment to 7,000 euros, in the hope of providing increased incentive for Sullivan to complete the job. They are now considering paying the installation team directly to complete the work on a private basis and have also sought legal advice in the hope of gaining compensation for their loss.
Numerous clients have spoken of Mike Sullivan to RTN as sharp, convincing, a conman, a villain and a compulsive liar who makes everything up as he goes along.
Please do not be the next unassuming victim to fall into his hands.
