Costa Blanca driver Adrian Valles hoisted the silverware after winning motor racing’s Superleague Formula 2009 Championship at Spain’s Jarama circuit in front of a 33,000 crowd.

Behind the wheel for Liverpool FC’s racing team, one of Teulada’s favourite sons was proud to add to the haul in the Anfield trophy room.

It was the second season rising talent Adrian has driven for the team and fourth place in the final race at Jarama was enough to wrap up the title.

He savoured the victory saying “it is fantastic to win the championship” and thanked the team for a “great job” in keeping the car competitive through every round.

“To win the Superleague Formula title is a great honour for a driver because the level of competition is so high and the cars are all the same,” said Adrian.

“I’m also really pleased for Liverpool. I met all the players and staff last week and they wished me good luck so I am so happy to win this title for them. They’ve won a lot of trophies in their history, so it is nice to have added another one to that list.”
