Crufts Style Dog Show at IFEPA
More than 3,000 dog, along with their owners, will be attending the Murcian Dog Show this weekend. The event takes place at the IFEPA centre in Torre Pacheco and organisers have promised lots of brand new features, which will make it a must for any dog lover. The ‘Canine Exhibition’ takes place on Saturday and Sunday and this Tuesday, members of the press were invited to the Torre Pacheco Town Hall to find out exactly what the exhibition has in store.
IFEPA Managing Director, Antonio Miras, said that this will be the first time that two national dog competitions will be held during the event. Also in attendance at the press conference were the Torre Pacheco Mayor and President of the IFEPA Exhibition Hall, Daniel García Madrid and the President of the Canine Society of Murcia, Alfonso Castells Lladosa. There will be 2,000 stalls at the event and over 3,000 dogs will be taking part in the various competition classes and obedience and agility displays.
Unsurpassed
The Mayor expressed his pride that the IFEPA centre will, once again, be holding an exhibition of such high importance and an event that is likely to attract visitors not only from the region of Murcia, but also from neighbouring Andalucia and Valencia. He also said that the ‘Canine Exhibition’ has become one of the most prestigious events in the calendar of European dog breeders and dog owners.
The President of the Canine Society of Murcia reiterated the Mayors’ comments, explaining that the exhibition of Torre Pacheco has become one of the best exhibitions of its type in the country. He said: “This exhibition is unsurpassed in Spain, thanks to the amount of stalls and competitors.” He also told the press that there will be more than 170 different dog breeds in attendance, with dogs coming from all over Europe and beyond. He said: “We have dogs from countries like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Denmark, Norway and even from Brazil, the United States, Finland, Russia and of course, Spain. It will be a truly international canine event.”
Championship Dog
There will be nearly 30 judges arriving from all over Europe to judge the dogs as well as 131 commissioners and there will be 21 show rings. Snr Castells Lladosa commented: “This shows the importance and success of the Torre Pacheco Dog Show.” Dogs of all breeds will be shown and there will be displays from the dog section of the Guardia Civil and Water Rescue dogs, as well as displays from sheep and cattle dogs and an exhibition of dog obedience.
There will be two agility competitions during the event, which will be judged and the winner of the Championship Dog of Spain will be announced on Sunday afternoon. The ‘Canine Exhibition’ opens its doors on Saturday at 09:00 and close at 20:00. It will not close for siesta on either day. On Sunday, the exhibition opens at 09:00 and close at 19:00.
