and explain why they should be selected for a year’s lessons.
Noel explained that the young sportsmen and women deemed most likely to succeed would be invited to show off their skills before the final four are chose – two from the north Costa Blanca and two from the south of the region.
AMBITION
“The kids will have to be totally dedicated to the game and have to want to become the very best they can be – with ambitions to be a top class amateur or professional,” said Noel.
“We want youngsters who are 100 percent committed – this is the opportunity of a lifetime, the prize is worth 2,000 euros for each youngster.
“All we want in return is dedication and commitment. It is a golden opportunity for someone to become a professional golfer if that is what they choose to be – obviously they will not achieve that in a year but they will be set up to do so.”
Noel, a registered World Golf Federation Coach, said the winners would receive the best coaching available in the sport to have every chance of success.
“There is no handicap limit – I am not bothered how bad they are now,” he added. “But I do not want anyone who might think this is a way to get free golfing lessons and that’s it. It will be hard work.
“They can have a handicap of 30, it will not hold them back as long as they have the desire to get to the top. We want people who are really driven to do something
GAME
And Noel said: “Once we have the final four, they will be expected to be totally dedicated to the game and enter every junior golf competition organised by the Spanish Golf Federation in the Valencia region they can.”
Noel said he hoped youngsters appreciated actually what was on offer. “If someone had offered me the chance to do this when I was their age, I would have bitten their hands off!”
The southern region winners will be based at El Plantio Golf Club, near Elche. The northern pair’s home club has yet to be finally decided.
However, all four players will be taking part under Noel’s “watchful eye” and encouraged to compete amongst themselves and against the pair from the second region.
“Our level of expectancy is very high,” said Noel. “These youngsters are being offered the chance of becoming somebody in the sport.”
